Americans (and possibly y'all Canadians too don't know though)get so caught up in protecting their rights they forget to enjoy them. Yes, we do have a right to privacy, but something like the attendance thing would have saved me 15 minutes a morning when I was teaching, that's 15 more minutes I could have spent teaching children about their rights...
And as for the allergy thing, I can understand a peanut free school. There has been an advent of severe peanut allergies among children, to the point where the scent of nuts causes children to blow up like Shrek. However, this advent of allergies is indicative of our over protectiveness. We have done something in recent years causing things to pop up out of nowhere to become problems.
But milk? I hate milk. I never drink it, it grosses me out. But I know enough to bypass it. Children who are allergic, know to bypass something they can't have. Let the other children have milk and have a couple cartons of real fruit juice on hand for little Katie and little John-boy who can't have milk.
For instance, did you know that in the Ukraine they don't get wisdom teeth? Nope, because no dentist ever told them they had these teeth they need to get out, so they just don't get them anymore. But not us, we get them and mass amounts of money to have them removed. Because someone once told us they were bad. That someone just wanted to make money off of us. argh.
