I apologize to my few readers. This entry is going to be about baseball. I don't usually write about baseball, because there are so many wonderful baseball bloggers out there that anything I have to say would be superfluous, but I have something I have to get off my chest.
I am a Twins fan. I love them, have since I was a little girl. Right now they are playing .500 and above baseball. This is good. We are doing better than we were at this time last year, we have a better record than we did this time last year. I'm proud of my boys, they're doing ok.
Here's the thing though. They're doing ok, but they're not playing good baseball. They're getting lucky. Bats are flying at 3rd baseman confusing them so they don't know whether to field the ball or the bat.
Our pitchers are dropping balls confusing runners so they don't know whether to run or not. We've even gotten a couple crappy calls in our favor. We're better than this.
People keep pointing out to me all the above information about this year vs. last year. Great, we're doing well. But I love baseball for the sake of baseball. I want to watch my team play well and win games on merit, not luck. And the fact is, we're 9.0 games behind Chicago. A team with no one hitting over 0.280. Who said this was ok?
