^wonderful advice indeed, and since there are, ahem, other vices I'd rather practice, I decided I'm giving up soda. I drink entirely too much of it, and I'm giving it up. No more soda for this girl. You are all my witnesses. Today, January 23rd, 2006 I'm giving up soda. We'll see how long it lasts. The longest I've ever gone is 40 days (Lent).
but scroll down, there is a lot more interesting things to read below. I was kind of bored this weekend...

Good for you!!!
yeah, you're gonna have to have my back on this one.
Even if it's mixed with amaretto?
oh, I've never liked soda with amaretto, or any alcohol really, I'm much more of a sour girl.
Dawn-
If you keep convincing me that I don't need to make Starbucks runs at noon (for the rest of this week I guess), I can help you with the Diet Coke.
I just put a sell out for coke...lol
Seriously good for you I need to do the same. I switched to diet a while back and now I need to take the final plunge into ...gulp...water
yeah. I much prefer tea anyway, but its easier at work to buy a soda than make tea. I drink about a zillion oz of water a day at my desk as it is, but I need to make the final push as well,
Josh would be so proud.
Rach - No starbucks. Coffee is gross anyway.
Hey Dawn? Today is January 23rd.
huh. my work phone says January 22nd. I didn't think it seemed right. fixed.
i'm thinking about giving up booze for lent again. when does lent start this year?
don't do that Say Rah!
I dunno, but I think it's late.
Lent starts sometime after my birthday. I want to say March 1, but I'm not sure.
that would be the firsyt wednesday after your birthday, so it's logical.
All of a sudden I really want an ice tea with Makers Mark in it.....
*Drooling Homer Simpson Style*
brian, you're funny.
what is maker's mark?
scotch?
i did it last year and was successful until about 2 weeks before easter. extenuating circumstances... my married friend who NEVER goes out, wanted to get out for an evening, so i drank with her.
wrong-o. not scotch.
I suppose I could have googled it...
Kentucky straight Bourbon:)Its my Jeckal drink that makes the scary monster come out...muhhhahha (< that is an evil laugh)
1 Bourbon
1 Scotch
1 Beer
yuck. i don't think I'd like that.
I like that you have to define what your evil laugh is. I think we'd have picked it up.
I may make that laugh if I drop a box of breakable things in the near future...muhhahaha
Scotch is right:) Bourbon is whiskey, Whiskey is Scotch...but you can only be called scotch if you are from Scotland. There are regional difference in taste of course but overwhelmingly they are the same.....muhahhaha
I'll just make you carry books bri, they're not breakable.
and actually, I'm more concerned about my shoes than my dishes...
How much do you think we can fit in your car?
Tons.. I will leave my seats at home so we can pile in tons of stuff...
You will send me directions right?
oh, yes, I'll go do that now. As of right now, my uncle claims he will be at my house at 8am. He lives in Elk River and drinks heavily on Friday nights, so I doubt that.
stupid regional shit. now that you mention it, i think i maybe knew that scotch was scottish whiskey. that still doesn't make makers mark scotch though... i did know that bourbon was kentucky whiskey, though.
those hosers up north call whiskey 'rye' too. [/random]
i was hanging out with these dudes in vegas and i asked what one was drinking...
Canuck: "rye".
Say Rah!: "rye? WTF is rye"?
Canuck: "you know, rye"
Say Rah!: "no, i don't know. what brand is it?"
Canuck: "crown"
Say Rah!: "oh, you mean whiskey!"
his friend was hot and smart as hell though. maybe i should move to ontario...
Great - Now the Rye Whiskey song is running through my head. Sometime during a meeting today I'll probably come out with, "If I don't get a rye whiskey I think I will die."
Who heck is Canuck? Is that a hockey team?
Hey I won't be able to help till like 1pm is that cool? Then I am able to help for the rest of the day...
bria, canuck is a generic term for the canadian she was conversing with. As for moving, we'll probably be done, or near done by then, give me a call, you'll be welcome to come to my new place and move furniture and eat pizza and drink beer.
anon- I have no idea what song you're talking about.
say Rah!- I remember awhile ago, Toni and I couldn't figure out what the hell our canadian friends were talking about when they kept saying rye.
Goofy Canadians.
crazy canucks.
i'm here to entertain...
Know who else is goofy? South Dakotans.
They sure are fun though. :D
ah the silly hosers to the north...I saw strange brew that has to count for something
how is it that i saw rachel's SD comment before replying to it? in fact, could my reply apply to anyting but rachel's post? not really, and yet her comment appears after mine.
maybe God is canadian and we pissed him off.
hee. Say Rah! - blogger's been wonkyish lately.
Brian - you said hosers!
Hmm. So what happened to getting the truck at 3, but now you're going to be done by 1 or so?
I might pop the four-wheel wonder in the van too. It's great if you have an elevator.
I canceled the truck because I couldn't get it until 3, and I wanted to start waaaaaaaaay before that. Sorry, I was going to IM you tonight, or PM you since you never sign on to AIM>
Maybe I missed the answer to this question somewhere along the way down the comments, but what prompted this? Maybe something, maybe nothing. The other thing I want to know is what goes into an Amaretto sour? I've never ever had one.
Nothing really prompted it, Carly, I just got to work yesterday and decided I should quit drinking soda.
An Amaretoo Sour is just amaretto and lemon sour, or grapefruit juice, or, if you're cheap and in college, squirt soda.
It's not that I'm not signing onto AIM (or Trillian), it's that it's been like a week since I had time or inclination to even turn on my computer at home. It's kind of a hassle when the thing loses the network at random moments.
I was just teasing anyway.
Oh, I know. Just sayin' is all.
ok. phew.
