To sit in the shade on a fine day, and look upon verdure is the most perfect refreshment.

Joanna, Megan, and I decided two years ago that we would go camping every summer. Two summers ago, we went to Taylor's Falls, and had a great time. Last summer we had plans to go camping in Canon Falls, but they fell through when I got too sick to go. This year, we were planning on going to Duluth for the weekend, instead of going camping, but my mom called and said, "why don't you come to the cabin with us instead?" So we went.

We started out Friday around 5 o'clock, Megan and JoAnna met me at my place, we loaded up and headed out. First we stopped to pick Nick up.

JoAnna, megan and I have this box of index cards with questions on them, we call it, "the Questions". We're so creative. We pull them out when the three of us are together. We pulled them out for a bit and had some laughs.

We got to the cabin around 8:15, unloaded the car and sat down on the porch. I introduced Megan and JoAnna to my aunt Cathi and uncle Denny. The four of us played a game of outburst, and we played a game of BS. There was a lot of talking and laughing. We settled into bed a little after midnight.

I could not sleep on Friday night. I finally slept from about 7-8:30. Our bedroom was hotter than I could handle. I was tired the rest of the day. But the "exciting" thing that happened on Saturday was that the toilet broke! Yay! Wait, no, it kind of sucked. Something went horribly wrong with the septic system. We waited around for a bit, taking trips into town to use the main store bathroom. We relaxed, talked, hung out. Early in the afternoon, all of us, except Paul (my step-dad), headed into the pontoon, to spend some time on the lake. We felt bad, because Paul was trying to find a plumber who would come out on a Saturday. We stayed out for a couple hours. When we came back, paul was chilling on the patio, he'd found a guy, and eventually he showed up and Paul, Denny, and the plumber had a grand ole' time fixing things up. While they were doing that, we took a nap on the hammock, Nick, JoAnna, Megan, My mom, and Cathi took a trip into town to pee. Eventually they fixed it enough so that we could use the bathroom, and we started dinner. I got out of washing dishes after dinner, because Nick sent me to bed to take a nap. JoAnna and Megan said it was ok since I'd made lunch and a birthday cake for Megan earlier in the day.

After dinner, we played a rousing game of 99 with all of us (except Cathi, who watched). Denny and Megan bickered back and forth good-naturedly. Many "chip" jokes were made. There was a bit of alcohol, and I was quite tipsy. Everyone else seemed fine, but it's no secret I'm a lightweight. Probably because I don't drink all that often. We were in bed much earlier, and this time, our room was a lot cooler. We woke up to the smells of pancakes and sausage cooking away. After breakfast, we ALL piled onto the pontoon for another boat ride. After about 30 minutes of trying to get the motor started, Frank (there was a naming ceremony at one point) finally started up and we were off.

Once we reached shore again, we loaded up the car and headed home. I made Nick drive most of the way so I could sleep, and we reached home without indcident!
