The Wedding Planner

My best friend since high school, Carrie, has been trying to plan her wedding for awhile. She and her fiancee, John, have been trying to pull things together to get married in the next couple of months, insisting they wanted a small wedding with 6 or so people there. Nothing fancy.

She called me on Friday, and asked what I was doing on the 18th, well, that's my birthday weekend, so I told her I was pretty sure I'd be hung-over. But if she wanted to do it then, I'm there. She jokingly said, let's just do it tomorrow. Let's get it done. I laughed, and said, sure, come to my mom's, she's having a skating party, it's like a built-in reception!

Well, she did it. Friday night at 10:00 Carrie called to tell me that she and John were getting married on Saturday night at my mom's house.

Saturday was a blur, the morning was spent shopping for a dress, we found a beautiful number at Penny's, ivory and gold Carrie looked fabulous. The afternoon I spent making food, making a sheet cake, finding a bouquet, champagne, wedding flutes, baby-sitting Dominic (Carrie's son) and skating with my family. JoAnna went off in search of a gift.

Around 8 or 8:30, Carrie arrived at my mom's house, groom, aunt, best man in tow. By 9:30 they were married.

My mom married them, here she is blessing the rings.

Carrie and John met in Junior high. Everyone in the wedding "party" was a graduate of Wayzata high school. Carrie, John, Me, and Brian the best man.

Rumour has it, Carrie's family is throwing a reception in April. Pretty excited about that, although I think I did a damn fine job pulling off what I did :)

And the happy couple.

(earlier in the day, Dominic [he's 4] managed to pull the fireplace mantel off :) my mom leaped to the rescue and nothing was broken as we all stood there gaping. Four adults in the room and we all just watched him do it.)

ETA: The rest of the pictures are here.

Looks like a great wedding! Probably something I'd do. But where's the cake??

My batteries died before the cake got brought out. It was just a simple white cake with white frosting. Nothing special.

That is mad craziness, but it sounds like everything went without a hitch (except the most obvious kind, har har)! I agree, it does look like it was a lovely and simple thing, which I am a big fan of. I'm impressed with you all coming together and pulling it off like that!
