There isn’t much better in this life than finding a way to spend a few hours in conversation with people you respect and love.

I have always said I could never meet someone online.

I read a website, based on the Minnesota Twins, called Batgirl. I've read this site for a couple years. Last summer, I started commenting. The people who read that site are very friendly. We started talking in the comments so much that we had to start a message board, just to chill out on. We also started arranging to meet up and enjoy a baseball game together. So, I coralled my friend NurseJenny, and we met Erika and Reid before a game. We were sitting somewhere different, so we didn't see the game together, but that was just the beginning.

People began arranging large groups to go to games, Rachel drove down from North Dakota in July, and I allowed her, and Sarah, two women I had never met before, to stay with me. (I hid all my murderous utensils) On Labor Day weekend, we had a blow-out bash. Sarah and rachel stayed with me again, along with Theresa.

Well, now, I cannot imaging my life without these people. As many of you know, Rachel is moving to the cities, and has been staying with me this week while she interviews for jobs. So on Friday, a bunch of our "internet friends" met at Matt's Bar for Jucy Lucy's. Sarah surprised us and drove over for the festivities, and Theresa came into town too.

We had a fantastic time. Saturday, we woke up, hung out for a bit, and headed to Chipotle for lunch. For an awesome picture of us at Chipotle, go here. IKEA, so I could get some things to hang on my walls, and Sarah could find a bin for her dog's toys.

As we were driving back to my place, we saw a car with a bunch of balloons in the bcakseat. Someone, sarah?, said, "hey, we should have a brithday party!" Mine and Rachels birthdays are in the next few weeks so it was a legitimate reason. We didn't care if we weren't going to have a lot of people, we were going to have the most Rockin' party ever. So, we headed to Ghetto Cub to get cake mixes and balloons, (what is a party without balloons really?) pineapple soda, and ice cream. We mixed up a cake, headed to super target to print our pictures and buy barstools, headed back to my house and made the other cake. We invited Beth, Nick, and Kath. Beth and Kath were busy already, but Nick is always up for a party. We also invited Spanish Briañ and he couldn't make it, but suggested drinks at the muddy pig beforehand, so we agreed.

Our party was ROCKING! seriously, you wish you had been there, it was so cool. There was alcohol, and games, and balloons, and cake. Lots of cake. I still have cake. feel free to come to my house to have some cake.

Sunday was a bit more calm, Sarah and theresa had to head out, and that was sad. Rachel went to do some shopping, and I pretty much sat on my butt. Then, Nick, Beth, and Kath came over to watch the superbowl, and more good times were had.

So, I always said I couldn't/wouldn't meet anyone from the internet, but, I'm glad I did, because I can't imaging how boring my life would be without them in it.

Since you already had the party, I guess you don't need presents anymore.

dawnmarie said...

nope. I never actually needed presents anyway! I now feel awful for ever posting that post.

Too late, your handcuffs have been purchased and wrapped in pretty pink paper.

Joey!

did I tell you I was going to start calling you Joey? Cause I think I am.

i feel it's important to mention that hyper-competitive, type-a sarah won the trivial pursuit game in convincing fashion.

i mean, in case anyone was wondering.

Yes, you won. Good work. It was even mentioned on Sunday that you won.
