Goodnight my angel, now it's time to dream.

So, when I moved into this apartment, I moved the bedroom set i'd been living with since I was 12 years old, into the guest room, bought myself a new mattress and lived without any other furniture, including a dresser. My furniture from before just wouldn't have fit in my bedroom, due to window placement.

Rachel
's lovely parents told her they wanted to buy her a new bedroom set, lucky, lucky girl, it included a new matress. Granted, I just bought a new matress in January. Sarah decided she wanted to redo some things in her bedroom so she bought new bedding.

Well, I just can't be left behind, so today I went out and bought me this:

It's not really as black as it looks in the photo, it's more of a brown black, and it's rubbed to a red black in places and I'm really excited about it. Rachel and I went in to look at it today, and, amisdt some inappropriate comments from Rachel, it took me about 5 minutes to decide i really wanted it. I got a fantastic deal, and it will be here Thursday.

It's a gorgeous set and will look great in your bedroom. And it was such a great deal!

Rachel said...

And you laughed at my so-called inappropriate comments!

I guess the pressure is on for Theresa, or her Chipotlemates will all have superior bedroom sets.

dawnmarie said...

Merely because they came out of your mouth! It was so out of character!

Something tells me Theresa will not be purchasing any new furniture in the near future. That whole still being in college thing.

Rachel said...

Absolutely no pressure on T here...

Dawn, funny things happen when I'm sleep-deprived. Former roommates can vouch for me on that.

theresa said...

the record shall reflect that I will not be buying any new furniture for at least the next 9 or so months. Then watch out furniture stores. I'll be on a rampage.

this whole weird peer pressure thing is a little unnerving.

it's like high stakes peer pressure. oh yeah? well i spent $500, beat THAT!

I could have walked out spending only 425. But I decided to splurge for the delivery instead of making my mom drive the truck down to st paul and pick her up. This way the friendly slumberland guys will set it up and attach it to my bed frame, and the mirror to the dresser and everything.

Nice!
That wouldn't have been my guess for what you were going to buy. Based on what you wanted before...

dawnmarie said...

toni, looking at the color up close, it's perfect, you'll see. i didn't think i'd like it, because i thought it was black, but when we got there, it was much less black than i thought rach can vouch for me on this.

Rachel said...

yep. it's very "Dawn".

HA HA! Rachel Very "Dawn"!

And Dawn it's Beautifuuuuulllll! But the slumberland guys are going to assemble? I thought it was my job to "Help" you assemble your furniture. (meaning I watch as dawn assembles).

dawnmarie said...

Jo, by assemble, i mean they're going to bring it upstairs, take it out of the boxes and lave it in my room. And they're going to take the bolts from the headboard and attach it to the frame.

and i'm sure sarah appreciates your furniture know how.

That looks good....I like the colors.....

Sarah said...

i assume you mean the desk? yep, it's still standing, so by my estimation, that's a good thing.

dawnmarie said...

Thanks, dem. i think the dark wood will look fantastic with my sage bedding and such.

and sarah, yes, Jo and I had wuite the adventure putting the desk together.

lauren said...

Wow, I LOVE IT! You and I must be psychic twins, I bought an armoire and dresser in a very similar style this weekend, although mine is black and rubbed to the wood in places. It will go well with my bedding which is ALSO SAGE! How weird.

Congratulations on the new furniture. I'm truly starting to appreciate the joys of home rentership. :)

dawnmarie said...

Lauren, isn't it great moving out of your parents house? And making your space your own? The wood color of this stuff will work in nicely with the asian theme forced on me by JoAnna and her damned pillow.

MTRR I love that pillow.

I knew you would get around to buying furniture that matched the pillow I bought you :)

It's great, Dawn. I'm not much of a shopper for anything, specifically furniture. I have only about 20 minutes before I am completely finished. I just don't have the patience for taking part in any kind of home decor, but partly inspired by all of you guys, I've decided to paint my room next week. Wish me luck! When I'm done, I may send Team Chipotle out to shop for me because you guys are so good at it.

dawnmarie said...

HA! This is hilarious. Beth is also thinking of doing some furniture shopping. This cracks me up.

Rachel said...

All the cool kids are buying furniture or redecorating! [/peer pressure]

dawnmarie said...

Carly, I dearly wish i could paint. well, i can, but i'd lose 150 of my deposit to have it repainted with their "special paint" when i move out. and since i anticipate my rent jumping by approximately 150 bucks when my lease is up, i'll likely be downsizing.

Anonymous said...

I've been thinking (and talking) about painting for years now. I am embarrassingly lazy. We pretty much have freedom to do whatever we'd like here provided it's not something that will make it hard for them to 'sell' the place to the next renter.

Rachel said...

And Dawn, the inappropriate comments I made?

They could totally go for my bed as well. Just sayin'!

dawnmarie said...

rachel! you're right! you should have asked for some for your birthday! not that i got any.

Rachel said...

Well there's always next year... only 10 months!

lauren said...

Like Carly, my landlord is pretty mellow about painting. When i get the keys (NEXT WEEK!) I plan to paint, at least the bedroom. There is something about making your bedroom your own, I feel, that really makes your new place a home.

And YES - it is wonderful moving out of my parents' house!!!!

dawnmarie said...

i so wish i wasn't too lazy to paint. oh,the colors i would choose. (that sounds like a dr suess book)

rachel. you didn't buy em for me. i'm not buying them for you.

Rachel said...

you said yourself that you had no use for them!

next year... heh heh heh.

I thought you were on a money diet. What happened?

dawnmarie said...

dude. i so solved my monetary problems. no issues. old news.

Anonymous said...

Good to know. Once you dig your way out of a hole, it's easy to slip back in if you don't change the activities that got you there in the first place.

dawnmarie said...

yes. i know. but unless i go out and buy another car, that's not going to happen.

Toni said...

Did you pay off your car??!?
That's awesome if you did :)

Anonymous said...

Carly-Ann (nice to meet you!) and I sound like we could go shopping together. "We've been here FOREVER. Can we leave now?" "Beth, it's only been ten minutes."

I'm still undecided about furniture, but I did buy new sheets for my bed. Online, because it only took ten minutes.

(I still would like to buy some furniture--just don't konw what I want. Curse Team Chipolte--or bless then, for finally inspiring me to go looking for the stuff I need.)

dawnmarie said...

holy shit, no id didn't pay off my car. just some measures i had to take to buy the car in the first place.

nope. we still have a good 15,000 or so before the car is paid off.

Rachel said...

Beth-
I recommend starting the furniture-buying process by looking at a few store websites and getting an idea of what you do and don't like. That way you can go into a store and know what you're looking for. Either they have it or they don't, and you don't have to waste your time.

I was going to say, "DAMN!"
