Grown-ups never understand anything for themselves, and it is tiresome for children to be always and forever explaining things to them.

This is one of my goddaughters, Samantha. Samantha is four years old. Her father is my cousin Michael. Michael has always been like a brother to me, indeed, I often refer to him as my brother, and to his wife, Jennifer, as my sister-in-law.

Samantha is sick. She has been in the hospital since Thursday morning. Some things are getting better, but others are getting worse. Tomorrow is Easter, my favorite holiday, and Jennifer's too. She will be in the hospital with her daughter. I will be with the rest of our family, wondering what's going to happen.

That's awful Dawn. I'm sorry you're going through this at all, but especially now.

Easter's really your favorite holiday?

thanks rach.

carly, easter is totally my favorite holiday. I don't really know why, as I'm not overtly religious or anything, but I love the church music (I shamelessly love the hallelujah chorus) and I like that it's a holiday that's not all about presents, and drinking like christmas and new years.

Ruben, thank you, she is adorable. that picture was taken when she was 2, but it's totally my favorite picture of her.

It's the toughest thing ever to see, a child sick, it's a heart breaker.

Great reasons, Dawn.

I thought about why I found that a little odd after I posted that and realized that my favorite 'holiday' is Canada Day and I rarely even do anythign special to celebrate it. Who am I to talk?

We're having Easter dinner with my folks tonight and I'm actually looking forward to it so maybe I like Easter a little more than I ever realized. This post was enlightening!

Try to enjoy yourself.

rocket, it really is. she's the most eneergetic, tomboyish, running around kid i know, and to see her pale, rashy face laying in a hospital bed that's 8 times her size, with tubes sticking out of her arms broke my heart.

Carly, Is Canada day similar to our independence day? I also love Independence day, again, not because i'm overly patriotic, but because i love the summeryness of it. And fireworks. I :throb: fireworks.

I'm taking Samantha's older siblings to a baseball game tonight, give them something else to think about a bit.

I can't imagine Sammie sick. She is always so energetic. To think of her in a hospital bed (a place where I, as an adult find scary and lonely)absolutly tears my heart out.I agree with rocketstar, sick children are heartbreaking.

yeah, she's still there. the earliest she'll leave now is tomorrow. and they may just let her leave so she can come down here and go to children's.
